Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about plans, your data and getting the most from IdeaLine. Can’t find yours? Write to hello@idealine.io.
Getting started
How do I get an account?
IdeaLine is invitation only. Request access, tell us about your team, and we will set up your workspace and email your invitations. If you were invited, open the email and choose a password, then log in.
I did not receive my invitation email. What now?
Check your spam or junk folder and search for “IdeaLine”. If it is not there, ask your workspace admin to confirm the email address, or write to hello@idealine.io.
How long does it take to learn?
Most teams are working in an afternoon. The Resources page has short guides for each part of the app.
Plans and billing
What counts as a person?
Anyone who signs in to your workspace. Clients, departments and partners you tag on a project are contacts, do not need accounts and do not use a seat.
What is the difference between monthly and annual?
Annual plans cost less than twelve monthly payments: $200 instead of $228 on Starter, $500 instead of $588 on Team and $1,000 instead of $1,188 on Studio. See Pricing.
Can I change plans?
Yes. Tell us and we will move your workspace to the plan that fits. Features not on your plan show as locked in the app, with a link to compare plans.
What happens if I need more people than my plan allows?
Adding a person beyond your plan’s limit is blocked with a clear message. Move up a plan or remove someone first.
Your data and privacy
Who owns our data?
You do. IdeaLine uses your content only to run the service, and never sells data or uses it for advertising.
Can I take my data with me?
Yes, on every plan. In Settings, Data and backup, download a migration pack (a ZIP with one CSV file per type plus a JSON backup and a README), an Excel workbook, or a JSON backup. You can also export the activity log on its own.
How long is activity history kept?
Starter keeps 6 months, Team 12 months and Studio keeps it forever. Projects, ideas, files and comments are never removed by these limits. Download the log before older entries age out if you need it longer.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings, then Plan and account, then Delete my account (there is also a link in your Profile). You can download your data first. If you are the owner you can hand the workspace to someone else or delete it entirely.
Do you use analytics or advertising?
The app has none. This marketing website can use Google Analytics, but only if you accept the banner, and we never sell data to advertisers. See the cookie policy.
Using IdeaLine
What is the IdeaLine?
It is the line every idea travels, from a first spark to a scheduled project. Ideas glow gold on the calendar so they stand out from regular projects.
What are the roles?
Owner, Admin, Editor, Contributor, Member and Visitor. You can rename them and adjust most permissions in Settings, Roles and permissions. Each person also has a permission level (Full, Standard or View only) and a view that limits which sections they see.
How do I get notified when someone tags me?
Alerts pop up in the app the moment someone mentions or assigns you, and the bell shows what you missed. You can turn on desktop notifications, pause alerts or send yourself a test in Settings, Notifications.
Can I put the calendar in a report?
Yes. Use Download on the calendar to save the view you are looking at as a PDF, PNG or JPG, with the year shown.
I deleted something by mistake.
By default every delete asks you to confirm. If you turned that off in the dialog, you can turn it back on under Settings, Display. Deleted items cannot be recovered, so restore from a backup if you need one.
Security and accessibility
How is our work protected?
Workspaces are separated by the database, access is by invitation only, connections use HTTPS and activity is logged. See the security statement. We are not yet independently certified and say so plainly.
Is IdeaLine accessible?
We build to WCAG 2.2 AA, which also covers Section 508 and EN 301 549 (European Accessibility Act). Our self-assessed Accessibility Conformance Report lists every criterion, and the accessibility statement lists what is not finished. Tell us about any barrier.
Can you give us an accessibility report (VPAT) for procurement?
Yes. The Accessibility Conformance Report follows the VPAT 2.5 structure for WCAG 2.2, Revised Section 508 and EN 301 549. It is a self-assessment, and we say so.
Is our data backed up?
Yes. We take a full encrypted backup of the database and account list every hour, on the hour, and keep hourly copies for 35 days and daily copies for 90 days at a separate provider. See the Trust center. You can also download your own copy any time.
How are payments handled?
Payments go through Stripe on Stripe-hosted pages. Your card number never touches IdeaLine. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1. Read the Payment Terms and Stripe’s PCI compliance guide.
Are you GDPR and CCPA compliant?
We built the product and policies to meet GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA/CPRA obligations: we do not sell or share personal information, we honor the Global Privacy Control signal, analytics on this website are opt-in, and a Data Processing Addendum is available. See the Trust center. Policies are drafts pending legal review.
How do I report a security problem?
Email the address in our security statement. We welcome good-faith reports.
Bring your next idea to the line.
Ask for an invitation and we will set up your team’s workspace. Already invited? Log in and keep going.
