Delete your account

What happens, what is kept for 30 days, and how to take your data first.

1 min read

You can leave IdeaLine at any time. It takes about a minute. Download your data first if you want a copy.

Be careful

Deleting cannot be undone by you. For 30 days we keep one sealed, encrypted copy in case of a mistake, then we erase it.

What deleting does#

  • If you are a member: your sign-in, profile and preferences are deleted. Projects and comments you created stay with your team, and your name on past activity becomes “Former member”.
  • If you are the owner and others use the workspace: you can hand ownership to someone you choose first. The team keeps everything else. This is the recommended choice.
  • If you are the owner and choose to delete the whole workspace: every project, idea, file link, comment, contact and the activity log is erased, and everyone loses access.

Steps#

  1. Take your data first

Owners can download everything from Settings, Data & backup. See Download everything: your data backup. Members can ask an admin for a copy of team data.

  2. Open Settings and choose Plan & account
  3. Scroll to Delete my account and choose it

IdeaLine explains what will happen for your role.

  4. Choose what to do with the workspace

Owners choose Hand the workspace to someone else or Delete the entire workspace.

  5. Type DELETE and tick I understand this is permanent

The button turns on only when both are done.

  6. Confirm

You are signed out and your account is removed.

Good to know

Deleting your account does not cancel a paid plan by itself. See Cancel your plan for how to cancel or update billing.
