Send alerts to Slack, Discord or a webhook

Tell your team in chat when a social post or email still has no publish time.

Team plan and aboveOwners and admins1 min read

When a Content, Social media or Email item is due soon and has no publish time, IdeaLine tells the assignee in the bell and by email, and posts to every destination you add here. Each item is announced at most twice: when it first comes into range, and on its last day.

Connect Slack or Discord#

  1. Open Settings, then Calendar & integrations
  2. Under Notification destinations, choose Add to Slack or Add to Discord

The buttons appear when they are set up for your IdeaLine.

  3. Approve in the window that opens

Pick the channel that should get the alerts.

  4. Choose Test beside the new destination

A test message should arrive in the channel.

Add a webhook#

  1. Under Add a webhook, type a Name

    For example “Zapier”.

  2. Choose a Message format

Full details (JSON) for Zapier, Make or n8n; Simple text fields; Slack message format; or Discord message format.

  3. Paste the Webhook URL

It must be an https address, such as a Zapier “Catch Hook”, a Make or n8n webhook, a Slack or Discord incoming-webhook URL, or your own server. IdeaLine stores it encrypted and never shows it again.

  4. Choose Save destination

If a signing secret is shown, copy it now. It is not shown again. It lets your server check the X-IdeaLine-Signature header.

  5. Choose Test

Manage destinations#

Each destination shows its type, host and whether the last send worked. Choose Test, Pause or Resume, or Remove. Nothing more is sent to a removed or paused destination.

Good to know

Only owners and admins can manage destinations. Treat a webhook address like a password, because anyone with it can post to that channel.
