Share work safely
Practical rules for read-only links, file links, calendar links and what goes in notes.

Anything you can share can also be forwarded. A few habits keep client and company information where it belongs.
- Read-only project links show only the title, status, due date and, if you choose, the description and subtasks. Pick the shortest expiry that works, clear Include description and subtasks when you do not need it, and Revoke the link when the work is done. See Share a read-only link to a project.
- Calendar links are private addresses. Treat them like passwords, set an expiry and revoke ones you no longer use. See Subscribe to IdeaLine from Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar.
- Linked files keep your storage permissions. Share the file with a client in your storage service, not by forwarding the IdeaLine link. See Add a file link to the Repository.
- Webhook addresses let anyone who has them post to your channel. Keep them private. See Send alerts to Slack, Discord or a webhook.
- Notes and descriptions are for the work. Leave out passwords, payment details and personal information that does not belong in a project.
- People. Give each person the lowest role that lets them do their job, and use View limits for people who only need one section. See Roles and permissions.
