You lost your phone or cannot use your authenticator

The ways back in, using a recovery code or asking an admin.

1 min read

You have options, and none of them need IdeaLine staff to see your password or your codes.

Option 1: use a recovery code#

  1. Sign in with your password

You reach the screen that asks for your 6-digit code.

  2. Choose I can’t use my authenticator
  3. Type one of the ten recovery codes you saved

    Each code works once.

  4. Set up a new authenticator

IdeaLine takes you through the setup again and gives you new recovery codes.

Option 2: ask for an emailed code#

On the code screen you can ask IdeaLine to email a 6-digit code to the address you signed in with. When you sign in that way, you will be asked to set up two-step sign-in again.

Option 3: ask an owner or admin#

A workspace owner or admin can reset two-step sign-in for you. If you are the only owner, email hello@idealine.io from your account address.

Tip

Prevent this next time: add a second device and keep your recovery codes in a password manager. See Two-step sign-in with an authenticator app.
