Promote an idea to a project

Turn a mature idea into a real project with a date and status.

1 min read
  1. Open the idea

    Choose Open idea.

  2. Choose Promote to project

IdeaLine creates a project that copies the idea’s title and due date. The description holds the notes, the goal and the audience. Every step, with its sub-steps, becomes a subtask. The project starts today, gets your workspace’s default status and is assigned to you.

  3. Find it on the Calendar and Board

A message says “Promoted. It is now on your Board and Calendar.” Open the project to adjust the dates, status and assignee. See Create a project.

Good to know

Promoting does not delete the idea. It moves to the Launched as projects list at the bottom of the IdeaLine tab, with an Open project button, so you do not promote the same idea twice.
