Share a read-only link to a project

Let a client or partner view one project without an account.

Team plan and above1 min read

A share link shows one project, read-only, to anyone who has the link. No sign-in is needed, so share it only with people you trust.

Comments, Sharing and the footer buttons.

Zoom in on each part

  1. Comments section
  2. Post comment button
  3. Sharing section
  4. Copy link to project button
  5. Export button
  6. Duplicate button
  7. Save as template button
  8. Save button
  1. Save your latest edits first

The link shows the last saved version.

  2. Open the project and choose Copy link to project

    The sharing panel opens.

  3. Choose how long the link lasts

24 hours, 7 days, 14 days or 30 days. The default is 14 days.

  4. Decide how much to include

Leave Include description and subtasks ticked, or clear it to share only the title, status and due date.

  5. Tick I understand that anyone with this link can view this project

The button stays off until you do.

  6. Choose Create and copy link

The link is copied. Paste it into an email or message.

Be careful

Copy the link right away. For security IdeaLine does not store the full link and cannot show it again. If you lose it, create a new one.

What people see#

The title, status and due date, plus the description and subtasks if you included them. They never see comments, linked files, assignees, other projects or anything else in your workspace.

  1. Open the project and scroll to Sharing

Active links show when they were created, when they expire and how many times they were viewed.

  2. Choose Revoke next to the link

    It stops working immediately.

Good to know

Creating links needs the Team plan or above and a role that can share. Standard and View-only permission levels cannot share. See Roles and permissions reference.
