Use your own name in a shared link (Studio and Enterprise)

Show your brand and the project name in the address your client opens.

Studio plan and above1 min read

Share links normally look like random letters. On Studio and Enterprise you can make the readable part of the address your own, for example idealine.io/p/your-brand/spring-launch. Team and below keep the standard IdeaLine link.

Set your workspace name once#

  1. Open Settings and choose Client portal
  2. Type a Link name

Letters, numbers and dashes only. Leave it empty to use your workspace name.

  3. Choose Save
  1. Open the project and choose Copy link to project
  2. Keep Use a branded link name ticked

It is on by default for Studio and above. Clear it for the standard random link.

  3. Type the Project name in the link

It starts as the project title. The preview shows the finished address.

  4. Create the link and copy or email it

The readable part is for show. The long private key after the # sign is what actually opens the project, and the server never stores it. That means no one can guess your project’s address from its name, and revoking the link ends access at once.

Good to know

Never trim the part after the # sign. Without it the page cannot find the project. Add your own logo, colors and tagline under Settings, Client portal. See Let a client approve, flag items or comment.
