Fix live preview and pin problems
What to do when a preview will not load, a pin looks out of place or a client cannot see a file.
The preview is blank or says the source cannot be shown
Open the link in a new tab with Open in on the viewer. If it asks you to sign in or request access, change the sharing setting in the source: Figma “Anyone with the link can view”, Loom “Anyone with the link”, Canva a smart embed link, Vimeo public or unlisted. Some sites block being shown inside other sites; IdeaLine marks those and offers Try anyway, or open them in a new tab.
A staging page shows a password or sign-in screen
IdeaLine switches to the live site by itself. Sign in inside the preview. Pins on that page stay on the first screen unless you add the pin bridge line. See Set up live media sources: Canva, Adobe Express and the pin bridge.
Pins only go on the top of the page
Check the line under the preview. “Pins follow the page as you scroll” means pins go anywhere. If Use the live site directly is ticked, clear it. For pages behind a password, add the pin bridge. See Preview a Webflow or WordPress staging site.
A pin is not where I put it
Pins belong to a device size and page. Select the pin’s number in the list: the preview switches to the right size and page and scrolls to it. If the page changed a lot since the pin was made, the pin keeps its original position on the page; mark it addressed or reopen it as needed.
I cannot see a pin someone mentioned
Check the filter above the list: Open, Addressed or All. Pins made on another page of the site show when that page is open.
There is no Add a pin button
Your permission level may be View only, or the source is Figma or Canva, which use Add feedback for the whole design. See Add, link and resolve feedback pins.
A video does not jump to the moment
Vimeo seeks in place. Loom reloads the player at that second.
Canva says to reconnect
Choose Reconnect in Settings, Calendar & integrations. Canva sign-ins expire after a while, and the connection belongs to each person.
Adobe Express only offers to paste a link
Creating designs inside IdeaLine is not switched on for your IdeaLine yet. Share links still work. See Create and edit designs with Adobe Express.
My client cannot see the preview
On the review link, the file must be ticked Relevant and Client can see, and the source’s own sharing must allow anyone with the link. Links that have expired or been revoked show nothing. Create a new link if needed. See Let clients review live previews and pin feedback.
My client cannot add a pin
The link must allow responses (Let the person approve, mark items that need attention, and comment). A link takes up to 60 pins an hour and 500 in total.
The client page is in the wrong color mode
Check Settings, Client portal, Client portal appearance. If clients may switch, their own choice wins in their browser. See Choose how the client portal looks: light, dark or automatic.
