Add a live source

Paste a link, check what IdeaLine found, pick a category and save.

Editors and above2 min read
Adding a Webflow staging site.

Zoom in on each part

  1. Link. Paste the address. Only secure https:// links are accepted.
  2. Tip for this source. What kind of link to copy and how to share it.
  3. Detected. IdeaLine names the source it found, such as “Webflow · live preview with pins”.
  4. Show this address as a live website preview. Appears for website addresses. It is ticked for you when the address looks like a staging site.
  5. Built with. Website, Webflow or WordPress. It only changes the label.
  6. Save. IdeaLine checks the link while saving.
  1. Open Repository and, under Add a live source, choose the kind you are adding

Figma, Canva, Adobe Express, Loom, Vimeo or Staging site. You can also choose Add link and paste a live link there: IdeaLine recognizes it either way.

  2. Paste the Link

Copy it with the source’s own Share button. The tip in the window says which link works best.

  3. Check the line under the link

It names the source and what you will get, for example “Vimeo · live preview with pins”. If no line appears, IdeaLine keeps it as an ordinary file link.

  4. Type a Title, or leave it empty

For a live source, an empty title is filled in with the name the source reports, such as the Figma file name.

  5. Pick a Category and add Tags

See the next section to add a category of your own.

  6. Choose Save

The button says Checking the link… for a few seconds while IdeaLine asks the source for its title and preview image. Saving never waits longer than that.

Add your own category#

Creating the category Social.

Zoom in on each part

  1. Category. Choose + New category… at the bottom of the list.
  2. New category name. Up to 40 characters, such as Social, Video or Web.
  3. Also add it to the workspace category list. Shown to owners and admins. Leave it ticked so the category appears in the list and as a filter chip for everyone.

If the name matches a category you already have, IdeaLine uses the existing one. Owners and admins can rename or remove categories under Settings, Workspace, Repository categories. A category you add without saving it to the list still shows as a filter chip while files use it.

Change or remove a live source#

Choose Edit on the card to change any detail, then Save. To remove it, choose Edit, then Delete. Removing it also removes it from every project and idea it was attached to, and deletes its pins. The original file, design or video is never touched.

Good to know

Adding needs a role that can create items. See Roles and permissions reference.
