Figma and Canva previews

Share the file the right way, add it, and leave feedback on the whole design.

Figma#

  1. In Figma, choose Share, then Copy link

File, prototype and FigJam board links all work. Linking to a frame keeps that frame in view.

  2. For clients, set the file to Anyone with the link can view

Teammates who are signed in to Figma see private files. Clients who are not in your Figma team need the link setting.

  3. In IdeaLine choose Add a live source, then Figma, paste the link and Save

Zoom in on each part

  1. Add feedback. Leaves a note about the whole design and can link it to a task. See Add, link and resolve feedback pins.
  2. Open in Figma. Opens the file in a new tab for detailed comments.

Figma and Canva pan and zoom inside their own frame, so a pin on one spot would not stay on the right part of the design. That is why feedback on these sources is a note on the whole design. Keep detailed, on-canvas comments in Figma or Canva, and use IdeaLine feedback to tie a change to the task that will do it.

  1. In Canva, open the design and choose Share, then See all, then Embed
  2. Copy the smart embed link

The preview updates whenever the design changes.

  3. In IdeaLine choose Add a live source, then Canva, paste the link and Save

Canva: choose from your account#

When your IdeaLine has the Canva connection switched on, you can pick designs from a list instead of copying links.

Connecting Canva the first time.

Good to know

IdeaLine asks Canva only for design titles, preview images and links. It cannot read or change your designs. Each person connects their own Canva account, and you can disconnect at any time. See Set up live media sources: Canva, Adobe Express and the pin bridge.

For a preview that clients can see, also publish the design for embedding in Canva (Share, See all, Embed). Otherwise teammates see it in Canva itself.
